Advantages of going to a community college
The advantages of a community college are a lot more than what one would think. Normally, someone would prefer to attend a University for several different reasons. One being that there is a stigma attatched to going to a community college in which it has been deemed "not good enough." Aside from the stigma, the benefits of the community college are great.
Firstly, the classes are small therefore you get way more attention and help in your classes. The teachers seem a lot more into helping the students, rather than just showing up and lecturing and leaving. Community college feels a bit like high school with a lot more independence. So it really helps to be able to start off your college career in a school that is willing to help you get settled and help you with things you have a hard time understanding.
Another benefit are the prices, of course. It is so nice to be able to have the option to get an education and not have these huge fee's that add up. Community college is, for the most part, affordable and a good place to get your feet grounded in your college career. Also, the majority of students are not 100% sure of what their major is going to be. It is a lot more lax in the community college world because of prices and just the general nature of the college. Therefore, a major isn't a huge pressure on these students and they can feel more like they can take their time figuring out their career choice.
So in the sum of things, starting out at a community college for a few years is usually the best choice to make.
